Elvis Movies

There are numerous Elvis movies in the market that are loved and appreciated by masses. To get to know more about them, it is best to get a little information about the character Elvis Presley who started his career in film in 1956. He appeared in a total of 33 movies. The first movies he worked on were known as King Creole, Jailhouse Rock and Love me Tender. These showcased a promising and strong start. Despite this fact, the later films were made fast and cheaply to cut back on costs and maximize on profits.

The movies were well received and he got many fans and at one point was known as “the only sure thing in Hollywood”. Other than acting, Presley was a popular singer who took his roles seriously and worked with other actors well to come up with interesting movies. In 1963, he worked alongside numerous stars in the industry like Jack Albertson, Walter Matthau, Gig Young and many others to create a film that was known as “It happened at the worlds fair”.  When he first started out, he had no experience but had a genuine interest in film.

While in school, he usually landed the leading role in English class whenever there where any Shakespeare’s plays. He was inspired by Marlton Brando and James Dean whom he played close attention to as they acted long before he ever got to a movie set. His break to begin working on Elvis movies happened in 1956 on March 26th to 28th where he did his first screen test for the popular paramount pictures. This came in a few days after he has released his 1st album. He appeared on the “girls of summer play” that was directed by William Inge. The drama coach for the play declared that he was a natural actor.

Later, he went for an audition where he wanted to a supporting role in a play that was known as the rain maker. He ended up impressing the recruiters and got the leading role. He never sidelined music as he went on to record music. One of his most memorable recoding was the Blue Suede Shoes where he gave a lip synced performance that featured gyrations. This was an electrifying performance that got him many interviews on radio. During one of the interviews, he declared that the Rainmaker play was to be transformed to motion pictures.

He signed a seven year contract on April 25th with Paramount pictures. This was an open contract as he was also able to work with any other studio that offered him work. He appeared on a western musical known as Love me Tender that was highly criticized. However, it was successful in the box office and this opened up doors where the actor landed a number of roles for movies that were released within one year. He stopped making Elvis movies in 1969 and returned to live performing after he went on a successful tour in Las Vegas allowing cameras to film his concert and backstage performances.
